The Band Leader

Every team needs a captain, every company a boss. Every band needs a leader. And he doesn’t have to be the best player, but he must have an idea what he is talking about. Usually, of course, the leader is also the one who puts in the hours, the hard yards, when it comes to working out the repertoire, transcribing songs, finding/replacing band members, sorting out the finances, booking gigs – the whole nine yards.
Moreover, although a band is not best the place for a megalomaniac autocrat, the leader must also do the decision-making – sometimes on tough things like firing a member. However, if it comes to that, chances are he will have the backing of the rest of the band because, generally, a band-member will not be fired for a reason that has no import for the band.
